Paulding Putnam Electric Cooperative announces plan for high-speed fiber internet
On July 18, 2024, the Paulding Putnam Electric Cooperative (PPEC) Board of Trustees unanimously voted to offer fiber internet as a new service. This decision follows several feasibility studies conducted earlier this year. The board aims to provide high-speed, reliable internet to its electric membership via fiber-to-the-home.

Community Foundation awards $6K in grants to charitable organizations
Columbus, OH - The board of The Community Foundation of Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives approved seven grants totaling $6,000 to various charitable organizations nominated by OEC and cooperative employees. The grants were approved in late July 2024, and funds are in the process of being presented to the community organizations.

Moriah Doherty joins Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives’ Government Affairs team
Former Ohio Senate staffer Moriah Doherty has joined Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives’ (OEC) Government Affairs team as the new Program Administrator. In her role, Doherty will manage and promote America’s Electric Cooperatives PAC (formerly ACRE), assist in coordinating legislative and political events, and support the Government Affairs and Economic Development teams.

RESAP reports progress on Commitment to Zero Contacts Phase 2
RESAP and CtZ Phase 2 is in full swing. The organization has facilitated four of nine observations to date. It has been a productive year with significant improvements identified in each of the first four sessions. In total, RESAP has conducted 22 CtZ Phase 2 sessions in Ohio.

Ohio's youth tour sees record participation in 2024
OEC’s 2024 Youth Tour concluded on June 21, setting a record for the number of cooperatives participating in the program. A total of 50 student delegates from 20 Ohio cooperatives and one West Virginia co-op, Harrison REA, traveled to Washington D.C. for a week-long educational trip.

Darke Rural Electric GM announces retirement; CFO named successor
