After a challenging start to the legislative session and two years of intense political maneuvering, former Senate President Matt Huffman (R-Lima) has been elected as Ohio House Speaker for the 136th General Assembly. Sen. Rob McColley (R-Napoleon), in his second term, was chosen by his caucus as Senate President.
In the Ohio House Republican leadership, Speaker Huffman's team includes Rep. Gayle Manning (R-N. Ridgeville) as speaker pro tempore, Rep. Phil Plummer as assistant speaker pro tempore, Rep. Marilyn John (R-Shelby) as majority floor leader, and Rep. Adam Bird (R-Cincinnati) as assistant majority floor leader. The whips are Rep. Riordan McClain (R-Upper Sandusky), Rep. Steve Demetriou (R-Bainbridge Twp.), Rep. Nick Santucci (R-Howland Twp.), and Rep. Josh Williams (R-Sylvania Twp.).
Minority Leader Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) will continue to lead the Ohio House Democratic caucus with her team comprising Rep. Dontavius Jarrells (D-Columbus) as assistant minority leader, Rep. Dani Isaacsohn (D-Cincinnati) as minority whip, and Rep. Michele Grim (D-Toledo) as assistant minority whip.
Senate President McColley's leadership team features President Pro Tem Sen. Bill Reineke (R-Tiffin), Majority Floor Leader Sen. Theresa Gavarone (R-Bowling Green), and Majority Whip Sen. George Lang from West Chester.
Ohio Senate Democrats are led by Minority Leader Nickie Antonio (D-Lakewood). Her team includes Assistant Minority Leader Sen. Hearcel Craig (D-Columbus), Minority Whip Sen. Kent Smith (D-Euclid), and Assistant Minority Whip Sen. Beth Liston from Dublin.
The leadership teams have various members whose districts include co-op service territories such as Midwest Electric, Mid-Ohio Energy, Paulding Putnam, Consolidated, Firelands, The Energy Co-op, North Central Power among others.
