Ohio's Electric Cooperatives (OEC) conducted interviews in Columbus on April 15 to award scholarships to students from Ohio's electric cooperative service areas. Judges from outside the organization interviewed two dozen candidates vying for the OEC Children of Members Scholarship.
Out of the participants, ten students were awarded scholarships ranging from 1st to 10th place, and fourteen others received honorable mention scholarships. The total amount awarded by OEC was $56,100.
Judges reported that the key factor in selecting the recipients was their understanding of the Seven Cooperative Principles.
"Congratulations to all winners!" stated OEC in their announcement.
