Frontier Power and Frontier Propane held their Annual Meetings on Friday, July 26th at the Frontier Power facility, with approximately 700 members and guests in attendance.

Members received an attendance gift plus a $10 credit on their bill. Employees were available to discuss issues related to Frontier Power, Frontier Propane, and Frontier Supply. Food was provided by Coshocton Coffee Connection and Whit’s.

CEO/General Manager Steven K. Nelson reviewed the status of Frontier Propane and highlighted the benefits of the new propane plant at Mohawk. The election for the board of trustees' "At Large" district position was won by Bill Daugherty. Nelson thanked Mark Wills for his 16 years of service on the board, as Wills chose not to run for trustee this year.

Nelson also announced election results for Frontier Power. In District A (Coshocton County), incumbent Bill Daugherty won re-election. In District B-I (Tuscarawas County), incumbent Seth Gerber was re-elected. Nelson noted that Spectrum paid Frontier Power to prepare 1,500 poles for attachments, with Spectrum representatives attending the meeting to answer questions about their work.

Frontier Power showcased its new track bucket vehicle designed to help crews reach rough terrain areas for line restoration and upgrades. Capital credits were returned as a credit on members' bills or checks to former members. Nelson requested updated contact information from members.

Nelson discussed the implications of the United States EPA greenhouse gas ruling and its potential impact on co-op members. He explained that Buckeye Power, which supplies electricity to Frontier Power and is chaired by Nelson, owns Cardinal Generating Station in Brilliant, Ohio—the cleanest coal plant globally. The new law requires a 90% carbon capture rate by 2032 or a switch to natural gas; however, no commercially viable capture method exists currently, making compliance challenging without significant efficiency losses or infrastructure changes.

Congressman Troy Balderson is leading efforts to amend the ruling to ensure affordable electricity supply continues.

Following the meeting, names were drawn for various bill credits: one $100 bill credit and ten $25 bill credits for Frontier Power members, along with one $100 bill credit and five $25 bill credits for Frontier Propane members.
