Central Ohio Lineworker Training Program (COLT) is gearing up for a busy year ahead as it continues to provide essential training opportunities for lineworkers. The program's schedule for the year is filled with various educational activities aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of its participants.

According to a recent update, COLT has seen enrollment from both apprentices and new hire students. A spokesperson for COLT stated, "This spring, 11 apprentices were enrolled and completed their COLT 1000/1050 classes, and we currently have 13 new hire students scheduled to begin later this fall." The program is expecting this number to grow further before the start of fall classes.

With the addition of new hires in 2024, COLT is set to have over 150 apprentices for the year, with a significant portion of enrollment coming from Ohio cooperatives. Additionally, 30 journeymen are currently undergoing training through the JRP program.

Throughout the year, COLT will be conducting 48 weeks of apprenticeship classes, 10 weeks of JRP classes, and 60 in-field COLD coaching visits. The program aims to keep up with the advancements in the utility industry, providing lineworkers with the necessary knowledge and skills to ensure safety while on the job.

The COLT spokesperson expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming year, stating, "We at COLT look forward to and enjoy working with you all." The program's schedule for the remainder of 2024 is now finalized and available for reference.
