COLUMBUS, OH - April is a special time to honor and appreciate the hard work of electric lineworkers, as highlighted by the recognition of Lineworker Appreciation Day. According to electric cooperatives, April 8 is designated as lineworker appreciation day, with April 18 being marked as the national lineworker appreciation day.

Encouraging individuals to show their support year-round, a newly designed Ohio license plate is now available for purchase at the cost of $20 during vehicle registration or renewal in Ohio. The design of this unique plate was crafted by Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives last year.

When purchasing the Fallen Lineworker license plate, half of the $20 cost, equivalent to $10, will be allocated to The Community Foundation of Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives. These funds will be utilized to honor and remember both injured and fallen lineworkers and their families, emphasizing the importance of their dedication and sacrifice.

The involvement of OEC's Legislative Affairs team in the passage of the bill redirecting funds to The Community Foundation of Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives further underscores the commitment to supporting lineworkers and their families.

To contribute to this meaningful cause and showcase solidarity with fallen lineworkers, interested individuals can acquire the special license plate by visiting https://www.bmv.ohio.gov/vr-sp-geninfo.aspx.
