Duke Energy, alongside its foundation, announced on the Tampa Bay Rays' Opening Day, a financial initiative to support Florida customers during the 2025 baseball season. For every regular-season win by the Tampa Bay Rays, Duke Energy promises to donate $1,000 to the Share the Light Fund. This program aids Florida residents in paying utility expenses through contributions from employees, retirees, customers, and Duke Energy shareholders, matched dollar for dollar by the foundation up to $500,000.
Melissa Seixas, Duke Energy Florida state president, emphasized the company's commitment, stating, “Duke Energy Florida is proud to serve each of our 2 million customers each day. During life’s challenging times we remain committed, which can be seen through the availability of our assistance programs.” She added that partnerships, such as with the Tampa Bay Rays, "offer us a great opportunity to reach more of our customers in need."
In the previous year, Duke Energy's Share the Light Fund provided nearly $750,000 in energy bill assistance to Florida customers. The funds are distributed to social service agencies, including United Way Suncoast, throughout Duke Energy's 35-county territory in Florida on a monthly basis.
Additionally, Duke Energy offers various tools and resources, like Energy and Bill Management Programs, to assist customers in managing energy use and expenses. These include Usage Alerts to indicate when bills might be unusually high, alongside several energy efficiency programs. Some notable offerings are the Home Energy Checks for assessing energy efficiency, Home Improvement Rebates for upgrades, and the EnergyWise Home Program which allows for bill credits.
Customers can also benefit from the Time-of-Use Rate Program to reduce costs during high-demand periods and Budget Billing for consistent monthly charges.
