Approximately 1,000 Duke Energy customers in West Terre Haute, Indiana, are set to benefit from a free home energy makeover provided by the company. This initiative is part of Duke Energy's Neighborhood Energy Saver Program, which offers qualifying customers a complimentary home energy assessment and the installation of up to 16 energy-saving improvements at no cost.

The free products available through this program include energy-efficient lightbulbs, water-saving showerheads and faucet aerators, air conditioning/heating system filters, water heater wraps/pipe wrap, caulking, weatherstripping, and door sweeps.

Rick Burger, Duke Energy Government and Community Relations Manager, emphasized the benefits of the program: “The Neighborhood Energy Saver Program is a great way for us to help our customers save energy, save money and improve their quality of life. In addition to the improvements their homes receive, customers will learn how to take control of their energy costs by practicing energy-saving habits.”

This income-qualified program targets neighborhoods based on federal and state guidelines along with U.S. census data. Dave Elkins, president of the West Vigo Community Center expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity: "This is a great opportunity for residents to save money and improve the energy efficiency of their homes. We are excited that Duke Energy is offering this program to residents, and we hope that qualifying community members will take advantage of it."

In the previous year alone, nearly 1,500 Duke Energy Indiana customers benefited from similar upgrades under this program. The company installed over 1,000 heating ventilation and air conditioning filters; nearly 1,000 low-flow showerheads; and more than 11,000 LED lightbulbs.

Since its inception in March 2015, more than 12,000 households in Indiana have received free energy makeovers through this initiative.

Duke Energy Indiana operates as a subsidiary of Duke Energy. It provides approximately 6,300 megawatts of owned electric capacity to around 910,000 customers across a service area spanning 23,000 square miles. This makes it Indiana’s largest electric supplier.
