Duke Energy Florida lineworkers excelled at the 2025 Florida Lineman’s Rodeo, securing top awards and a chance to compete in the International Lineman’s Rodeo this fall. The event, held on March 8, showcased the skills of electrical lineworkers through challenges that tested their proficiency in tasks such as pole climbing, equipment repair, and rescue operations.

The winners from the Florida competition will advance to the International Lineman’s Rodeo in Bonner Springs, Kansas, on October 18. This event brings together elite lineworkers from around the world. Duke Energy conducts three regional rodeos each spring to qualify participants for this international contest.

Jason Williams, Duke Energy Florida's senior vice president of power grid operations, praised the dedication of their line teams: “We put complete trust in our lineworkers to perform challenging, highly skilled work and provide the energy we all rely on." He added that their participation after dealing with hurricanes Debby, Helene, and Milton is a testament to their commitment.

The winners of the 2025 Florida Lineman’s Rodeo included Corey Sill from Ocala who took first place in Apprentice Overall Awards. In Journeyman Overall Awards, Dalton Adams from Southeast Orlando and his team secured first place. Chet Braden from Walsingham led his team to victory in Journeyman Senior Overall Awards.

In previous years, Duke Energy has seen success at international competitions despite limitations due to hurricane responses. The company emphasizes hiring skilled workers through collaborations with community colleges offering lineworker training programs.

Duke Energy Florida serves two million customers across a vast service area and is part of Duke Energy Corporation headquartered in Charlotte, N.C., which serves millions more across several states.
