In 2024, Kokosing Solar successfully completed rooftop solar installations for Athens City Schools. The installations were carried out at East Elementary, Morrison-Gordon Elementary, and the district’s administrative offices located in Chauncey.

The project involved a $1.3 million investment, which was funded through the district's permanent improvement reserves. Federal incentives played a significant role by covering 40% of the project costs, thus easing the financial burden on the district.

Kokosing Solar used concrete blocks to anchor the solar modules. The system includes inverters that convert solar energy into usable power, integrating seamlessly with the district's electrical supply. Depending on seasonal variations and energy consumption patterns, these solar arrays are expected to offset between 40% and 70% of the schools' electricity needs.

Overall, a total of 604.37 kW of solar power was installed across three facilities within the Athens City School District.
