Thousands of workers from FirstEnergy, assisted by crews from 18 different states, are working to restore power to customers in West Virginia and parts of southwest and central Pennsylvania following severe storms. The storms, which included heavy rain and strong winds, led to power outages for more than 430,000 FirstEnergy customers. So far, power has been restored to over 381,000 customers, representing 87% of those affected by the storms.
The hardest-hit areas are in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. FirstEnergy's repair efforts have been bolstered by workers from states such as Alabama, Connecticut, and New York, bringing the total number of workers to approximately 4,900. As portions of affected areas see restoration, crews are being relocated to other areas in need.
