Duke Energy announced that Harry Sideris has taken on the role of chief executive officer and joined the company's board of directors. This transition was part of a planned process outlined earlier in the year. Sideris will maintain his current position as president, which he has held since April 2024. He replaces Lynn Good, who is retiring after over two decades with the company, including nearly 12 years as CEO.

Harry Sideris expressed his enthusiasm for his new role, saying, "I am honored to step into this role at such a pivotal time for our industry. Thanks to Lynn’s leadership, Duke Energy has become an industry-leading, fully regulated utility that is ideally positioned to seize the opportunities in front of us. I am excited to lead us into our next chapter of growth and advance our mission of delivering reliable, affordable, and innovative energy solutions to meet the evolving needs of our customers and communities."

Under Sideris' leadership, Duke Energy plans to oversee an $83 billion five-year capital plan, focusing on infrastructure investments that support economic development and meet energy demands. Sideris emphasized the importance of safety, operational excellence, and superior service to shareholders, customers, and communities.

Sideris has been with Duke Energy for 29 years and was previously part of the company's senior management committee. His experience includes leadership roles such as executive vice president of customer experience, president of Duke Energy Florida, and vice president of environmental, health, and safety. His career began at Progress Energy, which merged with Duke Energy in 2012.

Additionally, Sideris will join the boards of the Edison Electric Institute, the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, and the World Association of Nuclear Operators. He will also be part of the Business Roundtable and the Charlotte Executive Leadership Council.

On April 1, Ted Craver, formerly lead independent director, is now the chair of Duke Energy's board of directors. Craver has been on the board since 2017 and is the former chairman, president, and CEO of Edison International.

Duke Energy, headquartered in Charlotte, N.C., ranks as one of the largest energy holding companies in the United States. It provides electric utility services to 8.4 million customers and natural gas utilities to 1.7 million customers across several states. The company is actively involved in advancing a transition toward cleaner energy sources, including significant investments in the electric grid, natural gas, nuclear, and renewable resources.
