This Sunday marks the start of Hunger Action Month, and Columbia Gas of Ohio is set to collaborate with various agencies across the state to address food insecurity. The initiative aims to raise awareness and encourage community involvement in combating hunger.
"Families in every corner of Ohio are impacted by food insecurity, and it is an issue we can work together to solve," stated Bob Heidorn, president and chief operating officer of Columbia Gas of Ohio. "At Columbia, we work every day to meet our customers’ basic needs of staying safe and connected. We are proud to partner with organizations that work to meet another basic need: food security."
Throughout September, Columbia Gas employees will participate in activities with several community organizations focused on tackling food insecurity. These include Children's Hunger Alliance, Mid-Ohio Food Collective, Second Harvest Food Bank, Connecting Kids to Meals, LifeCare Alliance, Springfield Soup Kitchen, and the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio. The company plans to use social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn to highlight these efforts and inspire others to share their experiences.
Besides addressing food insecurity, Columbia Gas offers support for customers struggling with energy bills through flexible payment programs. Customers seeking assistance can find more information on the company's website or contact them via phone or social media.
Columbia Gas of Ohio serves approximately 1.5 million customers as the state's largest natural gas utility. It is part of NiSource Inc., a major regulated utility company in the U.S., which aims for net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040.
