American Transmission Systems, Inc. (ATSI), a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp., has completed a new operations service center in North Jackson, Mahoning County. The facility aims to improve efficiency and streamline operations along the local high-voltage power system.

The 20,000-square-foot building is centrally located within Ohio Edison's Youngstown service area. It offers company personnel better access to heavy-duty transmission equipment and materials, enhancing electric service reliability for customers in the region.

Nearly a dozen FirstEnergy transmission line workers will operate from this facility. The location promises quicker access to resources during service disruptions and daily tasks.

Mark Mroczynski, President of Transmission at FirstEnergy, stated: “Our northeast Ohio customers are already benefiting by having this transmission service center in Mahoning County. For example, after severe storms hit the region in early August, this new building allowed restoration to begin faster since materials and other resources were together in one central location.”

The center includes offices and storage space on a 10-acre site along Bailey Court East. Adjacent to it is a 15,000-square-foot storage facility for large transmission equipment like transformers and power lines.

ATSI operates over 8,100 miles of transmission lines across Ohio and western Pennsylvania. FirstEnergy's distribution companies serve more than six million customers across several states.
