Stratford Ecological Center, a non-profit educational organic farm and nature preserve on 236 acres in Delaware County, Ohio, has undertaken its first solar project. The center selected Kokosing Solar for the development and construction of the project due to their expertise in solar project management.

The collaboration resulted in a 54.6 kW solar photovoltaic (PV) system, which includes a Cripple Creek electric vehicle car charger. This installation aims to reduce the center's substantial electrical costs while aligning with its commitment to environmental stewardship. The organization emphasized that sustainability is paramount; therefore, the solar panels were installed on two south-facing barns to avoid increasing land use and ensure optimal solar production.

Funding for the project was sourced from Stratford Ecological Center's extensive network of members and volunteers. Contributions were categorized into various investment levels such as “Sunbeam,” “Power Ranger,” and “Solar Supreme.” As a tax-exempt non-profit entity, Stratford did not utilize any tax incentives for this initiative.

The project, located in Delaware, Ohio, was completed in 2018.
