Dominion Energy South Carolina Requests Regulatory Review of Electric Rates to Maintain Safe, Reliable, Efficient Service as Customer Growth Continues

Dominion Energy South Carolina has recently requested a regulatory review of electric rates to ensure the maintenance of safe, reliable, and efficient service as customer growth continues. The requested increase to base rates, the first in nearly four years, would result in a net 3.58 percent increase for a residential customer's electric rates, with rates still remaining lower than the national average.

President of Dominion Energy South Carolina, Keller Kissam, emphasized the importance of investing in the electric system to provide reliable and affordable energy, stating, "Our dedicated men and women work hard to keep the lights on for our customers no matter the conditions." The proposed rate adjustment, if approved, would lead to an average monthly increase of about $5 for a typical residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per month.

The company's investments in technology and infrastructure, totaling $1.6 billion, have been essential to meet the growing energy needs in South Carolina and maintain safety, reliability, and security standards. These investments include the installation of distribution transformers, distribution lines, transmission lines, switchyards, and substations, as well as upgrades for generation plants and technology enhancements.

Kissam highlighted the commitment to managing electric fuel costs efficiently to keep the proposed rate adjustment low, stating, "We're committed to running our business efficiently and reliably as we continue to integrate increasingly clean energy while maintaining affordable rates."
