Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation recently announced the donation of $1.3 million in environmental grants to 114 organizations across eight states, with $120,134 allocated to 11 organizations in North Carolina. Rusty Harris, Vice President and General Manager of Dominion Energy North Carolina's natural gas business, expressed pride in supporting outdoor STEM opportunities and environmental initiatives. Harris stated, "Through these programs and the dedicated work of our nonprofit partners, we will make a lasting impact for North Carolina children and the environment."
Among the recipients of this year's grants, the Bray Hollow Foundation, Inc. in Grifton will implement the Bertie to Sea program, while the Association for the Preservation of the Eno River Valley, Inc. in Durham will focus on preserving and expanding the Blue Indigo Nature Preserve. Additionally, the N.C. State of College of Sciences Foundation in Raleigh aims to provide STEM field experiences for children with disabilities in Puerto Rico. The Asheville Museum of Science plans to enhance its native tree and forest ecology exhibit.
The grants awarded by Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation support projects that promote environmental stewardship, habitat preservation, and nature accessibility. The Foundation's commitment to community causes is evident through its contributions, as noted by the $46.7 million donated in 2023 through various programs.
