Thousands engaged in FirstEnergy's Northeast Ohio power restoration effort

FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: FE) has restored power to over 215,000 customers of Ohio Edison and The Illuminating Company following a historic weather event on Tuesday. The storm included two tornadoes with winds up to 110 mph in Cuyahoga County, one of which traveled a path 17 miles long and 350 yards wide through the area from Brookpark to Bedford.


Crews work nonstop restoring FirstEnergy services after severe thunderstorms

Power has been restored to more than 230,000 of the approximately 578,000 FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: FE) customers who lost service due to severe storms that swept across northeast Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey on Monday. With assistance from over 4,100 additional line workers and field personnel from contractors and mutual assistance organizations, FirstEnergy's electric company personnel will continue working around the clock in 16-hour shifts to make repairs as quickly and safely as possible.


Paulding Putnam Electric Cooperative announces plan for high-speed fiber internet

On July 18, 2024, the Paulding Putnam Electric Cooperative (PPEC) Board of Trustees unanimously voted to offer fiber internet as a new service. This decision follows several feasibility studies conducted earlier this year. The board aims to provide high-speed, reliable internet to its electric membership via fiber-to-the-home.


Community Foundation awards $6K in grants to charitable organizations

Columbus, OH - The board of The Community Foundation of Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives approved seven grants totaling $6,000 to various charitable organizations nominated by OEC and cooperative employees. The grants were approved in late July 2024, and funds are in the process of being presented to the community organizations.
