FirstEnergy has introduced several enhancements to its 24/7 Power Center outage maps, aiming to provide customers with timely and crucial information during power outages. The upgrades include color-coded icons and shading for easy location and area identification, a navigation bar for state map navigation, text message enrollment directly from the map, summary reports, weather radar overlay, and improved address search functionality.
The updated maps offer detailed outage information such as the cause of an outage, number of affected customers, crew status, and estimated restoration time. They are updated every 15 minutes and can be accessed on both desktop and mobile devices.
In addition to the map updates, FirstEnergy has also expanded its text messaging options. Customers can now enroll in an alert service that will notify them via text message or email when there is a change in the status of their reported outage. The new features include natural language text and additional keywords for improved customer experience.
Moreover, FirstEnergy has updated the descriptions for crew status on both the outage map and text alerts to provide more details about the current stage of the restoration process. These updates include statuses like 'Preparing for Crew Assessment', 'Preparing for Dispatch', 'Dispatched', 'Arrived', and 'Additional Crews Requested'.
FirstEnergy encourages customers to sign up for text alerts and check out their state's updated outage map to stay informed during power outages. More information about FirstEnergy's storm preparation and restoration process can be found at firstenergycorp.com/outages.
