New president aims to enhance service reliability at FirstEnergy Pennsylvania

John Hawkins Jr. has been appointed as the new President of FirstEnergy Pennsylvania, overseeing the power delivery through Met-Ed, Penn Power, West Penn Power, and Penelec. Hawkins joined FirstEnergy in 2022 as Vice President for Operations and Distribution Engineering.

Hawkins expressed his commitment to “bringing accountability and decision-making to the local level” for Pennsylvania customers. He emphasized addressing local priorities by enhancing service reliability with targeted investments aimed at reducing power outage frequency and duration.

FirstEnergy is also initiating customer-focused projects that provide tools for easier management of bills and energy use. Hawkins stated his eagerness to collaborate with communities to ensure a reliable energy supply.
