Mark Porter Auto Group unveils new solar array installed by Kokosing Solar

Mark Porter Auto Group held a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the completion of a new solar energy system at its Pomeroy, Ohio location. The 196.7 kW solar array was designed and built by Kokosing Solar and is expected to supply more than 70% of the dealership’s annual electricity needs.

According to project details, the solar installation will generate over 236,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity each year. This output will meet most of the dealership’s power demand and help reduce utility expenses while also providing long-term protection against changing energy prices.

The financing for the project was made possible through federal tax incentives and a USDA Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) grant. These funding sources reduced upfront costs and enabled Mark Porter Auto Group, a small business in rural Ohio, to invest in renewable energy technology.

“Kokosing Solar is proud to partner with Mark Porter Auto Group on this project,” said Roberta Washburn of Kokosing Solar. “This solar array is a great example of how, in the face of increasing electricity costs, local businesses can benefit from proven, cost-saving technology.”

Kokosing Solar brings over two decades of experience working with commercial, governmental, and institutional clients throughout the Midwest. As part of Kokosing, one of the region’s largest family-owned construction companies, Kokosing Solar uses its resources and local knowledge to provide customized energy solutions.

Mark Porter Auto Group has operated in southeastern Ohio for nearly 20 years with locations in Pomeroy and Jackson as well as Ashland, Kentucky. The company remains committed to supporting its community while offering dependable transportation options.

Kokosing Solar has provided renewable energy solutions for residential and commercial customers across the Midwest since 2000. With more than 25 years’ experience installing solar systems—and now operating under its current name since 2022—the company is backed by parent firm Kokosing Inc.’s seven decades in construction. Kokosing Solar serves areas including Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus and beyond as an insured electrical contractor focused on delivering safe high-performance systems.
