Jim Fakult, President of Jersey Central Power and Light (JCP&L), a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp., has received two prestigious awards for his outstanding leadership and commitment to community service.

At the Hearts & Hammers Gala on Feb. 22 in Mountain Lakes, Fakult was presented with the Community Partner Award for 2024 by Morris Habitat for Humanity. The award recognizes Fakult’s dedication to creating diverse, equitable, and inclusive communities, as well as his support for Morris Habitat for Humanity’s mission of building homes and completing repairs. Fakult expressed his gratitude, stating, “I am deeply appreciative of both the Morris Habitat for Humanity and ROI-NJ for these honors… It’s this attitude that makes New Jersey such a great place to live, work and raise a family.”

In addition to the award from Morris Habitat for Humanity, Fakult was also recognized by ROI-NJ and included in the Influencers Power List for 2024. He earned the 17th spot on the list’s Super 60 for his leadership in initiatives such as JCP&L’s EnergizeNJ and the company’s successful bid for the New Jersey Clean Energy Corridor projects.

Fakult’s contributions extend beyond his role at JCP&L; he serves on various boards and councils, including the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce, Choose New Jersey, the New Jersey Utilities Association, and the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn. He was also selected to be a member of Governor Phil Murphy’s Restart and Recovery Advisory Council, playing a key role in planning the state’s economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

JCP&L, under Fakult’s leadership, serves customers in several New Jersey counties and is committed to providing reliable and safe electric service to the community. FirstEnergy Corp., the parent company of JCP&L, operates one of the nation’s largest investor-owned electric systems, serving millions of customers across multiple states.
