Mon Power and Potomac Edison, subsidiaries of FirstEnergy Corp., are providing customers in West Virginia with resources to manage their energy usage and costs. As temperatures fluctuate, heating and cooling systems may work harder, leading to increased electric bills. To address this, FirstEnergy is offering tools and programs designed to help customers control their energy expenses.

Jim Myers, President of FirstEnergy for West Virginia and Maryland, stated: “We know that managing electric bills continues to be top of mind for our customers, especially after this winter’s subzero temperatures led to higher energy usage and bills for many. With summer and hot temperatures around the corner, we are committed to providing tools and programs to help customers manage their energy costs.”

Among the options available is a budget billing plan known as the Average Payment Plan (APP). This plan helps spread annual energy costs evenly across 12 months, reducing the impact of seasonal variations on monthly bills. Customers can check eligibility for this plan by logging into their online accounts at firstenergycorp.com/login.

The Analyze Usage tool offers personalized insights into household energy use. By answering questions about their consumption patterns, customers receive tailored advice on reducing energy usage.

For those struggling with payments, FirstEnergy provides bill assistance programs. Information about these programs is available at firstenergycorp.com/billassist. Customers might also qualify for installment plans or extensions on due dates via their online accounts.

Simple measures can improve home energy efficiency. Suggestions include weatherstripping doors and windows, maintaining HVAC systems by cleaning filters regularly, strategically placing thermostats away from drafts or heat sources, turning off unused lights, keeping air registers unobstructed, and closing fireplace dampers when not in use.
