FirstEnergy receives multiple awards recognizing support for military community

FirstEnergy Corp., a prominent energy company, has once again been recognized for its efforts in supporting the military community. The organization was honored with four Military Friendly® awards this year, marking the ninth time in the past decade that it has received such accolades from Military Friendly, an entity that advocates for U.S. military personnel and veterans.

April Marx, Acting Vice President of Human Resources at FirstEnergy, expressed pride in the company’s continued recognition: “We are honored to have earned this recognition once again from Military Friendly, as it reflects our commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment and support of those who serve our country. The courage and integrity demonstrated in military duty, along with the focus on safety, teamwork and problem-solving that our servicemen and women obtain, are behaviors we seek and value.”

In the 2025 survey conducted by Military Friendly for G.I. Jobs magazine, FirstEnergy was awarded a Silver Award as a Military Friendly® Employer. Additionally, it received designations as a Military Friendly® Company, Spouse Employer, and Supplier Diversity Program. These honors highlight FirstEnergy’s dedication to creating beneficial opportunities for the military community.

The company has now achieved its 14th Military Friendly Employer award over 16 years and maintained its status as a Supplier Diversity award winner for two consecutive years. It has also been acknowledged by U.S. Veterans magazine as both a Top Veteran-Friendly Company and for its Top Supplier Diversity Program.

Beyond these recognitions, FirstEnergy actively supports veterans through recruitment initiatives and comprehensive benefits packages that include active-duty benefits. Employees have formed a Veterans and Allies Employee Business Resource Group (EBRG) with local chapters across five states to aid veterans within and outside the organization.

Since 2016, this EBRG has raised over $100,000 for military-support organizations, organized donation events for overseas service members and local veteran hospitals, and volunteered with groups impacting veterans directly or indirectly.

FirstEnergy is committed to values of integrity, safety, reliability, and operational excellence while serving over six million customers across multiple states through one of the largest investor-owned electric systems in the nation.
