Thousands of workers from FirstEnergy, assisted by crews from 18 different states, are working to restore power to customers in West Virginia and parts of southwest and central Pennsylvania following severe storms. The storms, which included heavy rain and strong winds, led to power outages for more than 430,000 FirstEnergy customers. So far, power has been restored to over 381,000 customers, representing 87% of those affected by the storms.

The hardest-hit areas are in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. FirstEnergy’s repair efforts have been bolstered by workers from states such as Alabama, Connecticut, and New York, bringing the total number of workers to approximately 4,900. As portions of affected areas see restoration, crews are being relocated to other areas in need.

Updates from FirstEnergy indicate that Mon Power has restored power to 96% of its affected customers, with remaining outages expected to be resolved by 11 p.m. tonight. Penn Power has also restored power to 96% of its customers, with full restoration anticipated by tomorrow evening.

Penelec has restored power to 92% of affected customers. Restoration efforts in Blair, Cambria, Clearfield, Indiana, and Mifflin counties are expected to continue through the weekend. West Penn Power has restored service to 79% of its affected customers, with restoration efforts in counties like Allegheny, Armstrong, and Butler continuing into early next week.

FirstEnergy is also providing estimated restoration times on their website for affected customers. Customers experiencing outages can report their situation and receive updates directly through FirstEnergy’s service channels.
