FirstEnergy Corp. announced the appointment of Nick Pearson as Vice President, Federal Government Affairs, effective April 7. In his new role, Pearson will manage the company’s Washington, D.C. offices, focus on federal energy policy issues, and report to Amanda Mertens Campbell, Vice President of External Affairs.
Campbell stated, “Nick’s energy industry knowledge, coupled with his years of experience working on Capitol Hill, will be instrumental in advocating for our customers and business as the nation’s energy landscape continues to evolve. With his leadership, I’m confident FirstEnergy will help shape federal energy policies that support reliable, affordable energy for our customers.”
Pearson brings over 22 years of experience in government relations, public policy, and business. Most recently, he was Head of Congressional Affairs for Google Cloud, where he promoted cloud services in AI, energy, and national security. His prior roles include Global Head of Energy Policy and various government affairs positions at Google.
Before his tenure at Google, Pearson led the Washington, D.C. office of the Tennessee Valley Authority, addressing energy policy issues and liaising with federal agencies such as the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the Environmental Protection Agency.
His background also includes campaigning for officials in Georgia and serving as Vice President of Government and Political Affairs for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. Pearson began his career in legislative roles for U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson and in the Georgia General Assembly.
Pearson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in political science and speech communications from Georgia Southern University. He has served on boards for the Georgia State Society, Everybody Wins! DC, and the District of Columbia Public Education Foundation Young Professional Committee. He is also a member of the National Energy Resources Organization and volunteers with DC Central Kitchen.
