Duke Energy and its partners have provided significant energy assistance to families facing financial hardship this holiday season. The company, along with its foundation, customers, employees, and local agencies, has contributed over $6.4 million through the Share the Light Fund in 2025 to help households maintain essential power and heating.
More than one-third of these contributions came from the Duke Energy Foundation. This includes an additional $400,000 invested during the summer months to support families affected by extreme heat. Since 2022, total contributions from Duke Energy and its partners to local nonprofit organizations have exceeded $11 million.
Loree Elswick, president of Duke Energy Foundation, said: “Behind every request for help is a story—a family, a friend, a community member working to get through a tough time. Through Share the Light Fund and our local partners, we’re able to support our neighbors in their moment of need.”
Shelly Biby, Chief Advancement Officer of Crisis Assistance Ministry, commented: “Supporting families through winter starts with partnership, and Duke Energy’s Share the Light Fund empowers Crisis Assistance Ministry to reach households swiftly with the help they need. It’s how our community comes together to help keep homes safe, warm and connected.”
Customers seeking assistance can locate nearby agencies using Duke Energy’s Payment Assistance Finder. Individuals who wish to contribute can set up recurring or one-time donations to the Share the Light Fund.
