Duke Energy launches ‘12 Days of Savings’ campaign with holiday energy tips

0Comments

Duke Energy has launched its ‘12 Days of Savings’ campaign, offering customers a series of energy efficiency tips to help manage electricity costs during the holiday season. The initiative runs from December 1 through December 12 and provides daily suggestions for simple actions that can reduce energy use.

“During the holidays, energy use naturally increases due to cooler temperatures and shorter days,” said Kendal Bowman, Duke Energy’s North Carolina president. “Our goal is to make it easy for customers to take small steps that improve energy efficiency and deliver real savings.”

The tips include replacing outdoor and indoor lighting with LED bulbs equipped with sensors, regularly changing air filters, adjusting thermostats to lower settings, using sunlight for natural heating during the day, sealing windows and doors, setting water heaters to 120 degrees, insulating pipes, installing low-flow showerheads, checking refrigerator seals, reversing ceiling fan direction in winter, and turning off fans when rooms are unoccupied.

Customers are also encouraged to schedule a free Home Energy Assessment. This service offers participants home efficiency products such as weather stripping and caulking at no cost, along with personalized advice on reducing energy consumption. Eligible customers may qualify for rebates on further efficiency upgrades.

Duke Energy serves approximately 8.6 million electric utility customers across six states and operates a significant portfolio of power generation assets. The company is currently investing in grid modernization projects and expanding cleaner energy sources as part of its broader strategy for an updated energy infrastructure.
