Duke Energy Foundation has contributed $187,500 to the Share the Light Fund to help South Carolina residents manage higher energy bills following recent cold weather. The funding aims to support families struggling with increased energy use and costs during winter.

The Share the Light Fund connects eligible utility customers with assistance through local agencies. Duke Energy’s latest investment will be distributed via the Foundation for the Carolinas to community partners in South Carolina. This new contribution adds to more than $330,000 in assistance provided across the state in 2025 by Duke Energy, its foundation, employees, and customers.

Shelley L. Price, executive director of G.R.A.S.P., commented on the initiative: “We are incredibly grateful to Duke Energy for their continued partnership and support through the Share the Light Fund. This funding allows GRASP to provide critical assistance to families and individuals who are facing difficult choices between paying for utilities and meeting other basic needs.”

Tim Pearson, president of Duke Energy South Carolina, said: “Extreme cold can increase energy needs at a time when many customers are making tough financial choices. Supporting our communities through the Share the Light Fund is an important way we can help during the winter months.”

Customers seeking bill payment help can find local agencies distributing Share the Light Fund assistance using Duke Energy’s Payment Assistance Finder tool. Those wishing to contribute can make one-time or recurring donations on Duke Energy’s website; every dollar donated is matched by the Duke Energy Foundation up to $500,000.

The Duke Energy Foundation provides over $30 million annually in philanthropic support funded by company shareholders. Duke Energy serves 8.6 million electric customers across six states and 1.7 million natural gas customers in five states.

More information about these programs is available at duke-energy.com and through the Duke Energy News Center.
