Duke Energy Foundation has announced a new commitment of $500,000 in support of local environmental impact programs throughout North Carolina. Nonprofit organizations eligible for this funding can apply for grants up to $25,000 before the deadline of June 30. The aim of these grants is to boost efforts focused on enhancing natural environments, community resilience, land conservation, clean water projects, and biodiversity.

“We are proud to support initiatives that enhance our natural surroundings and bolster community resilience,” stated Kendal Bowman, North Carolina president of Duke Energy. “Our goal is to contribute to the well-being of the communities we serve by partnering with organizations which recognize that North Carolina’s natural environment is one of our most important assets.”

Over the past two years, the Duke Energy Foundation has funded over 50 environmental impact initiatives in the state. Examples include coastal restoration, wildlife rehabilitation, and educational programs in environmental science.

The philanthropic arm of Duke Energy, the Duke Energy Foundation, provides more than $30 million annually to support community needs. This is funded by shareholders and targets communities served by Duke Energy.

Duke Energy, headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, is a major energy holding company in the United States. With services reaching 8.6 million electric utility customers in six states and 1.7 million natural gas customers in five states, the company is focusing on a transition towards a smarter, cleaner energy future.
