Duke Energy Florida offers bill assistance programs for eligible customers

0Comments

Duke Energy Florida announced on Mar. 25 that it is offering several energy bill assistance programs to help eligible customers facing payment challenges. The company said nearly $30.5 million in aid was provided in 2025, assisting about 31,000 customers across the state.

The announcement comes as storm cost recovery charges have been removed from customer bills since February, reducing residential bills by approximately $44 for every 1,000 kilowatt-hours used. Despite this reduction, Duke Energy Florida said additional support remains available for those experiencing financial hardship.

Melissa Seixas, president of Duke Energy Florida, said: “We know that unexpected challenges can arise, and we’re committed to standing by our customers when they need it most. These programs help provide a safety net for families navigating temporary hardship while keeping their households running.”

The company partners with community organizations and leverages resources such as the Share The Light Fund, Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), and FL211.org to connect qualifying customers with financial aid. Customers seeking assistance are encouraged to visit Duke Energy’s Payment Assistance Finder to explore available options.

In addition to direct financial aid, Duke Energy offers installment plans for flexible payments and due date extensions ranging from one to ten business days. The company also provides seasonal savings tips through energy usage tracking tools designed to help reduce everyday consumption during periods of high demand.

Duke Energy Florida supplies electricity to two million residential, commercial and industrial customers across a 13,000-square-mile service area in the state. Its parent company serves millions more across several states and is investing in grid upgrades and cleaner energy generation.
