Duke Energy Florida holds Neighborhood Energy Saver event in Clearwater

0Comments

Duke Energy Florida hosted its Neighborhood Energy Saver Program in Clearwater on April 9, inviting eligible customers to learn about ways to reduce their monthly electricity bills. The event took place at the Ross Norton Recreation Center, where around 75 people attended out of more than 2,200 eligible local customers.

The program aims to help residents lower energy costs as summer approaches by offering free walkthrough energy assessments and up to 20 no-cost energy-saving improvements for qualifying participants. These improvements include insulation upgrades, sealing air-conditioning ducts, basic air-conditioning maintenance, smart thermostats, energy-efficient lightbulbs, a year’s supply of air-conditioning filters, energy-saving showerheads, and water-saving kitchen and bathroom aerators. Both homeowners and renters living in communities identified using federal and state guidelines are eligible for the program.

Melissa Seixas, president of Duke Energy Florida said: “Our Neighborhood Energy Saver program is just one of the many resources we offer to help connect customers with ways to lower their energy bill. By bringing our team and the community together, we’re able to get more support in the hands of customers in need as we head into the summer.”

Since launching its energy efficiency programs in 1981—including the Neighborhood Energy Saver—Duke Energy reports that its Florida customers have saved nearly $1.25 billion through various initiatives aimed at reducing consumption.

Duke Energy Florida is a subsidiary of Duke Energy and supplies electricity across a 13,000-square-mile area in Florida with an owned capacity of 12,500 megawatts serving two million residential, commercial and industrial customers. Parent company Duke Energy serves electric utility customers across six states with a total capacity of 55,700 megawatts and operates natural gas utilities for another 1.6 million people.
