Duke Energy and the Duke Energy Foundation have announced a $100,000 donation to the One SC Fund, which was recently activated by Governor Henry McMaster to support food banks throughout South Carolina. This contribution is part of an ongoing effort to address food insecurity as colder weather and the holiday season approach.

Governor Henry McMaster commented on the donation, stating, “Duke Energy’s contribution to the One SC Fund highlights the very best of South Carolina. At a time when many families are facing uncertainty, Team South Carolina is coming together to support our food banks and put food on the table. I’m grateful for their generosity and hope it will encourage others to join our effort to help families in need.”

Tim Pearson, president of Duke Energy in South Carolina, added, “These organizations are fighting the good fight every day in communities across our state, but they cannot do it alone. Duke Energy is happy to stand with the governor, and we encourage other corporate entities, organizations and citizens across the state to help support the fight against hunger.”

In addition to this donation, Duke Energy plans to provide another $500,000 during November to more than 60 feeding programs statewide. This campaign marks the fifth year of Duke Energy’s annual initiative aimed at supporting organizations that address food insecurity and inequity in South Carolina. The company’s efforts will lead up to Thanksgiving and include final grant announcements on Giving Tuesday.

The campaign will also highlight partnerships with several community organizations such as Harvest Hope Food Bank, Mill Village Farms, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, FoodShare South Carolina and AIM. Throughout November, Duke Energy employees will volunteer with these groups.

Since 2021, Duke Energy and its foundation have contributed over $2.6 million to agencies addressing hunger in South Carolina.

The Duke Energy Foundation provides more than $30 million annually in philanthropic support funded by shareholders. Duke Energy serves millions of electric and natural gas customers across several states including North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida.
