Duke Energy has announced that Jeffrey Guldner will join its board of directors starting September 15. He will also serve on the Compensation and People Development Committee as well as the Finance and Risk Management Committee.

Harry Sideris, president and chief executive officer of Duke Energy, commented on the appointment: “As Duke Energy delivers day in and day out for our customers during a time of historic growth in the industry, Jeff’s leadership and energy sector insights bring incredible value to our company as we shape the future of energy. We look forward to working with Jeff as we advance Duke Energy’s strategy and continue to provide exemplary governance for our stakeholders.”

Ted Craver, independent chair of the Duke Energy board of directors, said: “From his distinguished career at Pinnacle West Capital Corporation and its primary subsidiary, Arizona Public Service Company (APS), Jeff has led through pivotal moments of execution and transformation. His prior experience provides a unique lens that will strengthen the board with distinct perspectives and help drive constructive outcomes for Duke Energy, its employees, customers and shareholders.”

Guldner recently retired from his roles as chairman, president, and CEO at Pinnacle West Capital Corporation and APS on March 31 after five years leading those companies. He remains with Pinnacle West in an advisory capacity until March 2026.

During his time as CEO at APS, Guldner oversaw significant economic growth in Arizona. Under his leadership, APS was able to meet record energy demands while maintaining reliable service for customers.

He currently serves on the boards of the Smart Electric Power Alliance and the McCain Institute. Before joining APS, Guldner was a partner at Snell & Wilmer LLP specializing in public utility law. Earlier in his career he served as a surface warfare officer in the U.S. Navy and taught naval science at the University of Washington.

Guldner holds degrees from both the University of Iowa (BA) and Arizona State University College of Law (JD).

Duke Energy is one of America’s largest energy holding companies with operations serving millions across six states including Florida.
