Doug Mokoid has been appointed as the new President of FirstEnergy’s Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L). His connection to New Jersey’s utility industry is deeply rooted in his family’s history, with his father having worked at PSE&G in Newark. Mokoid himself grew up in Pennsville and pursued his education at Rutgers University.

Reflecting on his journey, Mokoid describes it as a “love story,” emphasizing his commitment to the state. His career began at PSE&G, where he developed engineering skills before taking on leadership roles at PECO and Atlantic City Electric. Now, as JCP&L’s leader, he embraces the entire region, stating, “Initially, I considered myself a South Jersey guy… But now, in my role at JCP&L, I embrace the whole Central and North Jersey experience.”

Mokoid’s leadership was immediately tested by consecutive storm restoration efforts upon taking office. He praised JCP&L employees for their dedication during these challenges: “It was a tough initiation… They rose to the occasion.”

His focus includes strengthening the power grid and reducing outages for customers. Mokoid aims to enhance service reliability through infrastructure investments and smart technologies. Additionally, community engagement remains a priority for him. He plans to increase workforce development and charitable contributions while fostering diversity and inclusion within the company.

“Leading JCP&L is a source of immense pride for me as a lifelong Jersey guy,” Mokoid concludes, expressing his dedication to serving New Jersey’s communities.
