Dominion Energy Launches EnergyShare Program with the Salvation Army to Help Families in Crisis

0Comments

Dominion Energy Ohio has recently announced the commencement of its EnergyShare program in collaboration with local Salvation Army offices. The program aims to provide assistance to families facing financial hardships due to unemployment or family crises. Dominion Energy’s EnergyShare program offers support by covering energy bills for customers who have exhausted all other forms of assistance.

To be eligible for a one-time EnergyShare assistance payment, individuals must reside in the Dominion Energy service area, be a Dominion Energy customer, and fulfill certain criteria. These include demonstrating a need for assistance, having exhausted all other state and federal energy aid, receiving a shutoff notice or already experiencing a disconnection of service, and having a documented household income at or below 300 percent of the federal poverty guidelines.

Dominion Energy collaborates with the Salvation Army offices to accept applications for EnergyShare and oversee the distribution of funds. It is important to note that Dominion Energy covers the administrative costs of the program, ensuring that every dollar contributed to the fund goes directly towards paying recipients’ heating bills.

The EnergyShare program is currently open and will run from December 1, 2023, through May 31, 2024, or until funds are depleted. This initiative is made possible through the generous donations from Dominion Energy customers, employees, and EnergyShare partners.

Reflecting on the success of the program, Dominion Energy shares that EnergyShare has been operating in Ohio for 23 years, having raised over $9 million and assisted more than 96,000 individuals during its first 22 years in the state. Last heating season, over 4,500 people received EnergyShare assistance, highlighting the significant impact of the program on the community.

Individuals who wish to contribute to EnergyShare can do so by mailing a check, made payable to “EnergyShare,” to the following address: EnergyShare, The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 5847, Cleveland, OH 44101.

Dominion Energy is a leading provider of electricity and natural gas, serving approximately 7 million customers across 15 states. The company, headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, is dedicated to delivering reliable, affordable, and increasingly clean energy to its customers. With a commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050, Dominion Energy strives to provide sustainable energy solutions for a better future.
