Columbia Gas of Ohio has announced the launch of a new grant program aimed at supporting public safety education and first responder training initiatives. The program will begin accepting applications on August 8, 2025, with the deadline for submissions extended to September 12, 2025. Nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status are eligible to apply through the YourCause platform.
The grants, which range from $500 to $5,000, are designed as one-time stipends but may be renewed annually. Funding is specifically intended for educational and training programs related to public safety; general operating expenses and equipment purchases are excluded unless they are essential for training purposes. Applications will be reviewed by a committee made up of Columbia Gas of Ohio and NiSource employees. Grant recipients are expected to be notified and announced in early Q4.
According to Columbia Gas of Ohio, “Columbia recognizes our responsibilities extend beyond providing energy to customers. We aim to enhance the social and economic well-being of our customers, employees and communities. By promoting safety practices and embracing innovative solutions, Columbia supports community connectivity and seeks to create lasting, positive impact through our values and actions. This new public safety grant will further that mission.”
