Buckeye Rural Electric Cooperative (BREC) introduced a new live line safety trailer at a ribbon-cutting event on August 28. The trailer is designed to show how electricity functions, highlight its potential dangers, and teach safety practices to help prevent accidents. BREC plans to use the trailer for demonstrations at schools, community organizations, and other groups across southeastern Ohio.

Melanie Lawrence, Chief Executive Officer of BREC, said, “Our crews are committed to safety every single day in the field, and this trailer allows us to extend that same commitment directly to the people we serve.” She recognized Danny Krum, BREC’s Safety and Loss Coordinator, for his role in developing the project.

Board President Bill Holcomb noted the wider significance of the effort: “Safety isn’t just about keeping the lights on—it’s about protecting our families, our neighbors, and our communities. This trailer will help us spread that message far and wide.”

The launch was also acknowledged by public officials. U.S. Senator Bernie Moreno sent congratulations through Southeast Regional Director Juli Stephens, who attended the ceremony on his behalf. Ohio House Speaker Jason Stephens from District 93 supported BREC with official certificates recognizing the achievement.
