The Safety Training & Loss Prevention Department is offering a new workshop, the Advanced Human Performance Course, led by SET Solutions. The workshop is aimed at reducing human errors within the electrical utilities industry, which is known for its high-risk nature. The course will focus on understanding and eliminating the types of errors that lead to unwanted incidents.

This interactive training is designed to help individuals understand why errors occur. The two-day course will cover several topics, including human performance principles, personal risk tolerance, critical tasks and error-prone situations, as well as situational awareness and safety drift.

Matt Edmonds, Vice President of SET Solutions, LLC, will lead the workshop. Edmonds is a Certified Utility Safety Professional and a Certified Construction Health & Safety Technician. With over 20 years of experience in safety management, he has contributed to various training courses for electric power organizations.

The course is intended for CEOs, HR representatives, operations managers, and other senior staff involved with personnel, as well as safety committee members, safety personnel, frontline leaders, and leadership involved in investigations.

The workshop will take place on May 28 and 29, 2025, at Ohio’s Electric Cooperative Headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. It will run from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Thursday and from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Friday. The cost of attendance is anticipated to be around $500 per participant, based on participation levels, with lunch included.

Registration is now open and must be completed by May 9, 2025, via the OEC private site. Any registration issues can be addressed by contacting Harrison Metcalf at 614-681-5154 or hmetcalf@ohioec.org.
